ADVANCED SURVEILLANCE AND PROTECTION UNIT- ASAP
The Advanced Surveillance and Protection Unit was created to bring new and emerging surveillance and apprehension technologies to the Department, while developing a standard for these technologies. Currently, the ASAP unit has implemented Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems, Acoustic Gunshot Detection systems, Fixed Video Surveillance (CCTV) systems, and Advanced Command Center integration. The ASAP unit is currently researching Video Analytics, Portable Mesh Surveillance Systems, Ground Based Radar Systems, Megapixel cameras, rapidly deployed gunshot detection systems and various wireless solutions to support and expand the usage of technology throughout the Department.
ASAP's strategic goals are to expand intelligence gathering capabilities, evidence collection, crime intervention, crime prevention, and deterrence. We hope to strengthen the safety and effectiveness of all law enforcement personnel primarily in support of the front line law enforcement functions, while continuing to research, expand, and deploy advanced technologies and other emerging technologies for practical use by Sheriff's personnel.
