CARL H. DEELEY PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN
Carl H. Deeley, a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca, and assumed command of Lancaster Station. Lancaster Station provides police services to the contract city of Lancaster and the surrounding unincorporated county areas, including Lake Los Angeles and Quartz Hill.
Captain Deeley’s law enforcement career began in March of 1978, when he worked off-the-street at Men’s Central Jail before entering the Sheriff Department’s Training Academy in August of that same year. After graduation, Captain Deeley returned to Men’s Central Jail for three years, before transferring to Lennox Station to begin his patrol training. He remained at Lennox Station for four years and then moved onto an assignment at the Recruit Training Bureau for 18 months, before transferring to Sheriff’s Information Bureau (SIB). In August 1988, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and left SIB for Temple Station, where he served until November of 1989. Transferring to Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Station, Captain Deeley supervised the station patrol deputies and later, the COBRA Team. He was requested on loan assignments to SIB, Recruit Training Bureau, Temple Station, and the Office of the Sheriff at various times during his tenure at Santa Clarita Valley Station. In November of 1993, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Pitchess Detention Center-South Facility, where he served as a Watch Commander and the Training and Scheduling Lieutenant. Captain Deeley returned to Santa Clarita Valley Station in March of 1996, and in March of 1998, became SCV Station’s Operations Lieutenant. In March of 2001, Captain Deeley returned to Sheriff’s Information Bureau, which had been renamed to Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau. In April of 2003, he was promoted to his current rank of Captain.
Captain Deeley attended College of the Canyons and California State University Northridge. During his law enforcement career, he was awarded a Distinguished Service Award and the Meritorious Conduct Medal-Gold.
Captain Deeley resides in the Santa Clarita Valley with his wife Judy. He has two married children, Jason and Jayme, and three grandchildren. He enjoys his free time with his wife and grandchildren, riding his motorcycle, rooting for the Oakland Raiders, and reading. Captain Deeley is on the advisory board for Ten-Four Ministries, an outreach to peace officers and their families.
